All you need to know about The Lyno Method

Our bodies move in continuous spiral patterns which involve the whole body, from the fingers to the toes.
When you walk, your left arm teams up with your right leg causing a spiral pattern that continues from the left hand, through the body and all the way down to the toes of the right foot while the opposite spiral pattern occurs in the opposite arm and leg.

The brain acts as a conductor, able to orchestrate numerous complex spiral patterns within this original spiral, allowing you to run, turn your head, kick a ball and swerve to one side, all in one movement!

But what happens if one component of this beautiful orchestra becomes stuck, not able to allow the flow of the full spiral?
We end up moving in compensation patterns, causing stress and overloading of specific areas, irritation and inflammation which eventually result in pathology and chronic pain.

The reason could be that your body is stuck in a dysfunctional pattern which causes chronic irritation, inflammation and wear and tear.
By focussing only on the area of discomfort, you might miss the origin of the discomfort and as a result, treatment or management of your symptoms might prove unsuccessful.

What is Lyno?
The Lyno Method emphasizes the importance of a holistic assessment of mobility and function. A body which is locked in a dysfunctional pattern due to previous injuries, surgery or habits usually shows symptoms in areas remote from the original trauma or, in cases of previous habits, in the weaker parts of the body.

The Method
In the Lyno Method we assess the mobility and function of the body as a whole, which enables us to determine exactly where the dysfunctional areas are that may be the cause of the chronic symptoms.
The Lyno Method therefore focuses on the cause of the dysfunction and consists of a dynamic and superficial hands-on modality with the aim of restoring natural movement of the fascia (connective tissue) and, by doing that, allowing the body to regain natural movement.
Once natural movement is restored, the focus shifts to the strengthening of the unconditioned neural pathways by instilling awareness of the natural spiral patterns as well as strengthening  of the muscles to regain full function.
